Job Summary
Coordinates and assists the provider and nursing to ensure safe quality/cost effective service and care for the people within the practice population. Provides and documents clinical care and maintenance of a safe and clean environment, under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse/APP or physician. While CNA I and CNA II can work under the license of a physician or APP, they must work a minimum of 8 hours every 24 months directly supervised by an RN employed at the clinic, per the North Carolina Board of Nursing requirements for licensure, or make arrangements for them to complete this supervision at a sister NHMG clinic location.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
+ Conduct Pre-Screening Calls
Perform telephone pre-screening of patients for colon cancer screenings to assess eligibility and readiness.
+ Review and Document Health History
Discuss patients' medical history in detail and accurately document relevant information in the medical record.
+ Review and Document Current Medications
Confirm and document all current medications, including dosages and frequencies.
+ Identify Medications to Hold Before Procedure
Review and instruct patients on which medications need to be held prior to their procedure, based on clinical guidelines and physician orders.
+ Explain Bowel Prep Instructions
Provide patients with detailed instructions for bowel preparation, ensuring understanding and adherence; document the discussion accordingly.
+ Schedule Procedures
Schedule colonoscopy and related procedures at both hospital and endoscopy center locations, coordinating with all relevant departments.
Qualifications
Education: High School or GED required.
Experience: 2 years experience preferred. Acute experience for CNA 1. 1 year CNA2 or EMT preferred. 1 year Experience in healthcare setting or Physician Assistant or medical school student enrolled in an accredited program or gap year preferred.
Licensure/Certification: (required)
NA I in good standing within the NA registry; OR
NA II in good standing with NA II certification with required state; OR
EMT current credential in appropriate state; OR
One year clinical (medical) office experience; OR
Physician Assistant or Medical School student enrolled in accredited program or in gap year
Additional Skills/Requirements (required):
Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency testing.
Basic computer skills for documentation
