Summary of Job Duties:UAMS Northwest Arkansas Graduate Medical Education (GME) Sports Medicine Fellowship Program is seeking a licensed and certified Athletic Trainer to serve as a Clinical Care Coordinator to join our Team. This dual-role position combines clinical care responsibilities with administrative support to ensure compliance with ACGME accreditation standards. The Athletic Trainer will provide hands-on patient care while managing programmatic and operational requirements essential to the success of the fellowship program.This position is crucial in enhancing the quality of the fellowship program by bridging the gap between patient care and administrative functions. Clinical Duties
Provides appropriate care for athletes and patients. Recognize, prevent and perform evaluations within a clinic setting, initiate appropriate treatments, and recommend appropriate follow up care. Primary direct care responsibilities include the following: assessing patients, gathering and documenting intake information, assisting physicians with procedures, including blood draws, casting, bracing, and DME sizing/fitting, and arranging other care needs for patients.Patient and athlete education and advocacy. Communicate effectively with patients, parents, trainers, and other healthcare providers. Acts as liaison between patients needing medical treatment/ therapy services and healthcare providers. Ensures the patient and family understand the treatment plan.Perform required administrative duties related to clinical tasks. Primary administrative responsibilities include the following: maintaining documentation of patients within EHR system, including documentation of any necessary follow up, scheduling of patients, obtaining insurance authorizations, collaboration with physicians, trainers, and the interprofessional team to help coordinate care. Duties also include keeping clinic areas neat, organized, and safe, assist with supply ordering and maintain organization and inventory of supplies/ equipment.
