Provides nursing assessment and initiates nursing care to all patients; works collaboratively within the department; provides timely, professional reproductive endocrinology nursing services Billings Clinic patients. Responsible for applying evidence-based nursing practice to the care of women over the course of their lifespan. This involves the integration of education and research into the practice through the application of standards and guidelines. Data collection and assessment are used to establish goals and priorities in accordance with patient care, staff needs, and organizational objectives. Nurses are accountable for the quality of care rendered.

Essential Job Functions

Utilizing a holistic approach incorporates the nursing process into the plan of care for the patient. Plan of care should include biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, educational, and discharge planning. Plans, organizes, implements, evaluates and documents family-centered care by promoting a safe and therapeutic environment for women, newborns, family, significant others, and care providers. Care is consistent with Billings Clinic values/goals and Billings Clinic organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Maintains appropriate theoretical and clinical skills with application and patient relevance of commonly utilized equipment specific to the department and other areas as appropriate; pharmacological application; application of laboratory values and radiologic findings with disease process or physiological status. Utilizes performance improvement principles to assess and improve the quality of patient care. Evaluates current nursing practices within the department to identify opportunities for modification that would enhance professional practice, maintain or improve patient care while remaining fiscally sound. Patient Interaction and Communication:Perform routine patient assessment as indicated including but not limited to patient history and lab result interpretation.Answer calls promptly and professionally.Provide patient education and ensure patient understanding of diagnosis and treatment by adequate documentation.Clinical Workflow/ResponsibilitiesMeet with other team members to discuss patient treatment plan.Develop written nurse plan.If appropriate, schedule IVF start date and coordinate cycle.
pregnancy tests results; Advise and encourage patient upon completion of cycle.Assist physician with in-office procedures.Respond to prescription refill requests within 24 hours of receipt.Assist with coordination of in office and out of office procedures with urology services and Billings Clinic Outpatient Surgery Center.Document patient care services by charting in patient computer database and departmental records and filing clinical documents.Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, and calling for assistance from other clinical personnel when appropriate.Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, sterilization of instruments, medication storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.Accept/make phone calls within established timelines regarding laboratory values and semen analysis results with appropriate explanation and interpretation.Comfort patients by anticipating patients’ anxieties; answering patients’ questions.Assure quality care by adhering to therapeutic standards; follow physician practice and nursing division philosophies, as well as standards of care set by the state and other governing agency regulations.
Participate in establishing and maintaining quality control and other compliance standards set forth by company.OR recovery nurse duties as indicated.Order medication.Administer injections.Obtain informed consents.Teach: Injection instruction to patients; Explanation of treatment options to patients; Explanation of the planned treatment cycle to patient; Phone patients with instructions as treatment proceeds.Counsel: Provide anticipatory guidance during treatment cycle; Provide therapeutic emotional support during treatment cycle; Provide patient with Provide patients with necessary resources and non-clinical information regarding their appointments, procedures, and general inquiries.Act as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers, ensuring clear communication and understanding of patient needs.Follow and maintain Practice protocols and processes regarding workflows for patient scheduling and administrative processes.Promote patient satisfaction by giving feedback to Practice management regarding ways BCFS can improve operations-based services to better address patients’ expectations, schedule appointments, and promote marketing events and information. Work under the direction of the administrative director to support overall office operations.Contribute to the team effort by maintaining an excellent rapport and working relationship with healthcare providers, clerical, and other members of our multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and administrative tasks effectively.Maintain patient charting.Review and abstract patient charts – computer/STIM sheets.
