We have been a leader in sports medicine for more than 30 years, with practices located in Somersworth, Lee and Portsmouth. We are the official orthopedists and team physician group for the University of New Hampshire in recognition of our advanced training and ability to understand complex sports injuries.
Patients with an orthopedic or sports-related injury to muscles, bones or joints can receive same-day care at a Mass General Brigham Orthopedics Walk-in. Our walk-in locations are staffed by expertly trained clinicians, providing physical examinations, diagnostic imaging (including x-rays), and comprehensive evaluations to ensure fast, accurate diagnosis and treatment that puts you on the road to recovery as soon as possible. On-site casting and bracing are available. The Walk-in is available to anyone in the community with no appointment necessary.
We are seeking a 32-hour Clinic/Practice Assistant to join our Orthopedics Walk-In team! The schedule will consist of Sunday-Thursday (with the possibility to include Saturday hours at some point in the future).
Monday: 7:30am-3:00pm
Tuesday 7:30am-2pm
Wednesday 7:30am-2:00pm
Thursday: 7:30am-3:30pm
Sunday: 7:45am-1:15pm
We are looking for someone with scheduling flexibility as the practice hours are are 8:00am-8:00pm M-F, 8am-1pm Saturdays and 8:00am-1:00pm on Sundays so hours could be staggered during this time frame for coverage.
Job Summary

Performs both administrative and clinical functions to support smooth and efficient clinical service or practice operations under close to general supervision. Performs basic clerical work and tasks that are repetitive and routine. Administrative duties related to patient visits including scheduling, check-in, check-out duties. Actual job duties may vary by Department.

Essential Functions
-Perform routine administrative and clerical duties relating to a clinical service or physician practice office.
-Make patient appointments and maintain appointment records.
-Greet and assist patients.
-Answer telephones, assist callers with routine inquiries, and schedule appointments.
-File materials in patient folders, and print appointment schedules.
-Process patient billing forms and scan documents to patient medical record/LMR.
-Call for patient medical records and laboratory test results.
-Open and distribute mail or faxes.
-Type forms, records, schedules, memos, etc., as directed.
-May be required to accept co-payments.
-Handles, screens and/or takes messages related to prior authorizations, referrals, and verify registrations for accuracy.
-May monitor patients in waiting room and responds to any needs for information.
-Assists in patient flow processes.

- Basic Proficiency with all Office Suite.

- Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience and Talking to others to convey information effectively.
- Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents, to correspond and communicate with others clearly and effectively (including composing/editing e-mail, memos and letters), and to take complete and accurate messages.

This role is responsible for registering, scheduling, and checking in patients on a walk-in basis, as well as other reception and secretarial tasks for the department. These include managing patient and therapist’s schedules, answering the telephone, scheduling appointments, completing accurate registration, as well as various additional tasks related to patient care and the overall operations of the department. The individual will work closely with other team members to ensure positive patient experiences.
