Prepares medical records for clinic visits. Calls outside offices and hospitals to obtain medical information on new patients. Maintains log of record release requests. Scans outside medical records into patient charts. Provides support to front office and clinic staff. Maintains confidentiality of patient medical records in accordance with HIPAA at all times.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
Education: High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
Familiarity with basic clerical support procedures preferred. Six months or more of clerical experience preferred. Additional formal clerical and computer training desirable.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Attention to detail - Required.
Organizational skills to prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines - Required. Accurate typing and data entry skills - Required.
Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with a wide range of staff, physicians, medical professionals, patients, visitors, in order to relay and obtain factual information required.
Telephone skills and ability to operate office equipment such as PCs, copiers, fax machines, scanners and printers - Required.
Ability to adapt quickly to changes and interruptions - Required.
Highly motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team setting - Required
Accurate spelling and grammar - Required.
Medical terminology - Preferred
