The Claims Service Associate plays a key role in supporting the subrogation process by coordinating with external collection vendors and internal teams to facilitate efficient recovery efforts. This position is responsible for managing documentation, tracking claim progress, and ensuring compliance with company procedures and state regulations. The role involves frequent communication with vendors and insured members, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to the team's recovery goals through diligent case management and vendor support.
Job Duties
Act as the primary contact for assigned collection vendors, to support subrogation recovery efforts by providing documentation and managing claim progress.
Track and monitor open claims files to ensure timely updates and resolution.
Communicate professionally with insured members, vendors, and service providers to explain coverage, claim processes, and decisions both verbally and in writing.
Investigate, evaluate and resolve claims by reviewing evidence, assessing coverage, liability, and damages, and determining reserves within authority limits while ensuring compliance with company standards.
Maintain accurate records and update company systems with all claim and vendor activity.
Help the team achieve recovery goals by supporting vendor performance and ensuring compliance with standards.
Identify opportunities to enhance member relationships and refer them to relevant products or services.
Manage inbound and outbound correspondence, including emails, faxes, and physical mail.
Offer empathetic and professional service, especially during stressful or sensitive situations.
Contribute to team goals and projects, performing tasks independently while learning claims practices and supporting department objectives.
Qualifications
High School GED Equivalent combination of education and experience Required
Bachelors Equivalent combination of education and experience Preferred
1-3 years Claims handling, Customer service, or Administrative support Preferred
1-3 years Exposure to documentation review, data entry, or case tracking systems Preferred
Strong organizational and time management skills. (High proficiency)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. (High proficiency)
Willingness to learn about subrogation, insurance processes, and regulatory requirements. (High proficiency)
Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office experience a plus). (High proficiency)
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities. (High proficiency)
Must be eligible to obtain an insurance license in the state of Texas. (High proficiency)
