ResponsibilitiesAs a Claims Litigation Specialist, you'll primarily handle lawsuits, large exposure claims, and more complex claims involving Construction Defect Litigation. We'll trust you to provide prompt, fair and effective claims service for insureds and Claimants. You'll have responsibility for all phases of account management for accounts as assigned and inform management of any unfavorable trends. You'll have a integral role acting as an advisor and coach for other litigation handlers and claims representatives by conducting claim reviews, providing technical direction.

Investigation of lawsuits and other larger exposure claims made by insureds and claimants including but not limited to:proper coverage determinationdirection of defense attorneys and litigation managementtaking of recorded statementsarranging for outside appraisal of damage if warrantedevaluate and negotiate settlementsdeny claims and lawsuits not coveredwhere no liability exists, deny liabilitydefend and/or negotiate costs of defense settlementsobtain proper discovery, forms and documentsEstablishing and maintaining proper reserving throughout the life of the claim fileMaintaining appropriate diary schedules of all claims in the care of custody of the Litigation SpecialistEvaluating damage appraisals and bills for proper documentation and accuracy for establishing claim valuesReporting forms and litigation management forms according to procedures on a daily basisEntry of proper claim reserves and claim paymentsMaintaining appropriate file notes on the systemInitiating subrogation, contribution and disposal of salvage according to established proceduresInforming the proper Underwriting Department of risks hazards discovered through the investigation of the claimEscalating claims of a severe nature or exceeding settlement authority; keep stakeholders informed on high exposure or unusual claimsMediations, settlement conferences, litigation conferences and trials when warranted QualificationsBachelor’s degree in business insurance or related field5+ years claims adjusting experience Basic understanding in construction and the duties of various trade groups within the construction industry understand contractsExperience writing reservation of rights letters, developing cost share agreements, and working out time on risk indemnity arrangements with other carriersCasualty adjusters license in Texas and New Mexico Additional Company Details We do not accept any unsolicited resumes from external recruiting agencies or firms.
