Claims Adjuster - Workers' Compensation

Job Details:

SUMMARY: Position is responsible for moderately complex assignments with ability to work independently. The Adjuster of Claims is responsible for the investigation evaluation negotiation and settlement or resolution of work-related injuries under the terms of the specific state workers comp law. The essential functions of the position include: conduct an investigation to evaluate the payment or denial of workers compensation claims; timely and correctly administer appropriate workers compensation benefits; retain and direct outside experts such as attorneys private investigators and medical case managers; evaluate potential of subrogation claims and aggressively pursue recovery; negotiate settlements when appropriate; document in the claim file all actions taken to provide a complete accurate and self- sustaining record for current and future reference; and maintain Company s best practice policy. This position will have reserve authority over 10000 and settlement authority over 10000 as determined after training and approval by VP of Claims. Candidate must be able to handle confidential information in a professional manner.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: College degree or equivalent experience.

Experience: 2 plus years of progressive Workers' Compensation experience is required.

Computer Skills: Requires standard computer skills.

Communication Skills: Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Special Skills: Knowledge of workers compensation laws and regulations pertaining to workers compensation claims handling. Strong interpersonal skills attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.

Supervisory: None

Travel: 1-5 domestic trips per year
