Civil/Site Division Manager

We are looking for a Civil/Site Division Manager to join our growing team as a hands-on Project Manager on a full-time, direct basis at our office in New York, NY.  In this role, you’ll lead diverse multi-discipline design projects, working on both public & private site development projects!  You’ll also collaborate with Municipal clients across different markets, gaining invaluable experience while also making a real impact!

 

In this role, you’ll tackle a variety of exciting tasks based on your technical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.  Your work will include designing and planning developments that include critical infrastructure components (i.e.:  Stormwater Management [SWM], drainage, erosion control, etc.).  You’ll also handle land development applications, code reviews, and feasibility studies across diverse markets.  This is a chance to dive into various projects and make a real impact!

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Participate in the identification / pursuit of new clients as well as developing additional work within an existing network of clients. Oversee and manage junior and senior staff for specific project assignments; this also involves training and mentoring staff members. Participate in interviewing and hiring new staff. Supervise field activities; this includes interpreting field conditions and laboratory analytical results. Effectively organize / write / edit reports, draft proposals, and other documentation. Coordinate different work groups within the same (or different) office location(s); this can involve working within the same or different disciplines (on an as-needed basis). Interact effectively and professionally with clients, subcontractors, staff, project personnel, etc. Manage project billings and assist in payment collections (as needed). Oversee the development of Land Development Plans; this includes the preparation of engineering design drawings, technical specification, and engineering reports (from schematic design through construction). Coordinate permits and land development applications for review & approval from regulatory agencies for various projects. Attend meetings and participate in planning/zoning board meetings. Assign tasks to Design staff; this includes providing mentorship & guidance in developing SWM strategies, Utility Coordination, and Erosion & Sediment Control [E&SC] Design. Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed.

TARGET SALARY RANGE:  $150,000 – $190,000 (per year)

 

Basic Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or a related discipline). 10+ years of professional experience working in Engineering (preferably with Land Development design projects). Professional Engineer license in NY.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Proven expertise / comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles, practices, methods, and techniques required for planning, managing, designing, and constructing complex projects (public & private-sector). Proven expertise with civil site development best practices (including layout, grading, stormwater management, utilities, roadway design & signage standards, erosion control, regulatory approvals, construction process, etc.). Proven expertise / well-developed knowledge of land-use planning (including principles, practices, & techniques) for local, county, and state land-use regulatory compliance. Experience with designing SWM plans; proficiency with Hydrology and Hydraulics (H&H) modeling tools (e.g.:  HydroCAD, Hydraflow, etc.) is preferred. Proficiency with engineering / CADD tools; expertise with AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (especially Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Proven leadership skills with the ability provide effective staff management. Proven ability to manage projects effectively by multi-tasking and prioritizing workflow to satisfy multiple project schedules & budgets. Proven ability work effectively with external stakeholders; exceptional client & contractor relationship management skills are strongly preferred. Proven ability to demonstrate strategic thinking skills, especially with understanding overarching project goals while integrating various design disciplines effectively. Proven ability to display a motivated and organized professional demeanor. Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic & challenging team environment as a collaborative Team Player while also maintaining the ability to work independently. Excellent attention to detail and time management skills. Excellent communication skills (verbal & written); experience with public speaking / presentations is a plus!
