Your work environment at EXP

In this role, you will be a part of the Civil team for Highway and Transportation projects based in Chicago, Illinois.

 

EXP is currently seeking a talented Civil Intern for the Chicago market. The candidate will learn and perform diversified civil engineering work under direct supervision of a senior civil engineer. Duties include engineering design of highways, freeways and local streets.  Duties also include preparation of construction plans utilizing MicroStation and AutoCAD Civil 3D Software and various specialized civil engineering design programs. Miscellaneous duties include working with construction specifications and estimating quantities and costs. Candidate must be able to work within a team environment and have good communication skills.

Assist with analysis and review of roadway plans, traffic data, various reports, and geometric designs. Assist with planning and preliminary designs for roadwaysPerform analysis and design calculations according to the applicable design codes; use computer programs as appropriatePrepare construction plans using CADD programsPrepare construction specificationsPerform material quantity take-offsOrganize design calculations

  

What your experience looks like

Studying Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering requiredKnowledgeable with civil design and design computer programsKnowledgeable with CADD programs such as Microstation and/or AutoCAD Civil 3DKnowledgeable with Geopak and 3D Modeling desirable but not requiredProficient with MS Office softwareExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work in a team environment

The hourly range for this role is $21 to $25. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's skill set, experience, certifications, and geographic location. Compensation may vary by location due to differences in the cost of labor.
