Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Civil Inspector whose responsibilities will be divided between Roadway Testing Technician (RTT) and Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) work. The selected candidate will receive training in any areas where they may need additional expertise. This position involves conducting quality inspections on roadway projects, including occasional concrete testing.
ResponsibilitiesConduct quality inspections on roadway projects and perform concrete tests once or twice a week.Engage in CEI work when not performing concrete testing.Inspect all phases of roadway projects, including civil roadway, CEI, and concrete.Ensure compliance with contract documents, drawings, and specifications.Attend project meetings and submit detailed daily reports.Perform materials inspection and acceptance before installation.Identify and report potential issues to contractors and engineers.Maintain as-built drawings and post addendums to plans.Provide daily photo documentation of site progress.Inspect roadway and bridge maintenance or resurfacing projects.Document daily activities, materials used, and contractor performance.Coordinate with engineers and contractors to resolve field issues.Essential SkillsHigh school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).Minimum of 2 years of experience inspecting infrastructure and roadway utilities, including electrical, waterline installation, and roadway construction.Experience in civil roadway projects, asphalt/resurfacing, and utility inspection.Valid driver's license and the ability to maintain a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that meets company policy standards.Experience with FCON and certifications such as RTT, NICET, ACI, ICC, or related certifications in asphalt resurfacing and erosion control.Additional Skills & QualificationsStrong knowledge of construction practices, materials, and equipment.Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and specifications.Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting.Ability to maintain professional relationships with contractors, engineers, and stakeholders.Company will invest in, pay for, and support obtaining certifications and re-certification exams.Work Environment
The work is conducted in the field, typically at paving and construction project sites, such as striping, laying asphalt, gutter repair, or laying out concrete slabs. Employees will meet the team on site, usually working with contractors. The position includes the use of a company truck, Surface Pro or laptop, and phone.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $37.00/hr.
