Your Opportunity
The role of a Civil Designer is to work on smaller projects, and as a team member of a larger project under the close guidance and supervision of a senior engineer/designer. You should be able to evaluate, select, specify, and engineer systems or products for a project. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include calculations and field work. The smaller projects that a Civil Designer may be assigned to will have relatively few complex features.
As a Civil Designer, you will assist more senior engineers/designers by performing the routine aspects of civil engineering assignments and may also assist in the analysis of proposed projects.
Your Key Responsibilities
Provide onsite construction engineering support. Tasks to include:
• Remain compliant with Stantec’s Safer Together HSSE practice and other HSSE activities at sites
• Provide overall coordination of Stantec support for construction related activities on-site
• Responsible for overseeing Stantec work to respond to construction issues in a timely manner to support project schedule
• Coordinate with Stantec office staff
• Track and manage construction documentation including: requests for information, RFI, submittals, shop drawings, field orders and other contract mechanisms
• Provide input into review of construction schedule and plans
• Assist with the coordination of different entities at construction site
• Assist design team with field related elements of construction problem solving
• May assist in review of construction pay applications from contractors
• Provide communication with Stantec’s direct and end clients related to construction issues
• Contribute to the organization and running of site meetings for construction
• Assist when requested with office design work for civil engineering projects
• Provide visual observations (non inspection) of construction work
• Contribute to redline markups of construction drawings
• Assist in updating of CAD files for minor efforts,
• Document construction activities in daily notes and field reports
Your Capabilities and Credentials
• Experience with construction activities in the United States
• Experience with project management software such as Procore (Certified), MS Office, MS Project, Sage Project Management.
• Some knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and Revit desirable
• Microsoft office suite familiarity
Education and Experience
Degree in engineering Masters Degree in construction management preferred Experience with construction activities in the United States Experience with project management software such as Procore (Certified), MS Office, MS Project, Sage Project Management.
