Civil Design Engineer

Our recruitment team is currently seeking Civil Design Engineers to work with one of our major clients within the Nuclear indudstry in either North or South Carolina for 1 year assignments.
This role supports engineering design changes across a nuclear fleet and plays a critical part in plant modernization, equipment upgrades, and risk reduction initiatives. The position provides technical expertise in structural, seismic, and stress analysis to ensure safe and compliant execution of nuclear projects.
Responsibilities Develop and deliver detailed scopes, technical justifications, installation, and testing requirements for nuclear engineering design changes. Perform and review complex engineering calculations including stress, structural, and dynamic/seismic analyses (steel and concrete systems). Support development and revision of procurement specifications, design basis documents, regulatory filings, and technical requirements. Coordinate and support implementation of design changes, including work order reviews, field walkdowns, corrective actions, and construction support. Oversee and support licensing evaluations including 10 CFR 50.59 screenings and safety evaluations. Provide oversight and technical guidance to internal engineering teams and external vendors to ensure adherence to industry codes and company standards (ASME, AISC, ACI). Utilize software tools (ANSYS, GTStrudl, SuperPipe, Caesar II, AutoPipe) for performing and reviewing structural and stress analyses. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program. Minimum 6 years of engineering experience, with at least 1 year in the nuclear power industry. Strong technical background in structural design, mechanics of materials, and seismic analysis. Working knowledge of structural and stress analysis software (e.g., ANSYS, GTStrudl, AutoPipe, SuperPipe, Caesar II). Familiarity with industry standards including ASME B31.1, Section III, IX, XI, AISC Steel Design, and ACI Concrete Codes. Experience with 3D modeling and CAD tools such as SolidWorks is a plus. Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. Ability to obtain and maintain nuclear site unescorted access clearance. Flexibility to travel and work extended hours as project demands require. Experience supporting nuclear site modification implementation and field activities is highly desirable. #LI-MS24
