Midland Daily News is seeking a highly motivated City Reporter to cover local government, state government and community news in Midland, Bay City, and the surrounding area. We are looking for a journalist who can deliver stories quickly and accurately, who is curious about and interested in the communities they cover, and who has a proven ability to connect with sources. 

What You’ll Do:

This journalist is responsible for creating content with our digital audience in mind, whether that is breaking news, a long-term enterprise project or a feature profile. Experience using public records requests is a bonus. 

What We Require:

Degree in journalism, communications or related field. Some experience in news reporting. An interest in covering city politics and business. Analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong reporting, writing, organizational and time management skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced newsroom and reprioritize assignments as news breaks.
