The CIRES/ IIDF Researcher is responsible for collaborating with researchers to develop, design, and fabricate state-of-the-art instrumentation. This is a multidisciplinary position that requires abilities in numerous skilled craftmanship. The Researcher must be able to communicate ideas clearly and to work independently. An institute at the University of Colorado Boulder, we have partnered with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) since 1967. Our areas of expertise include weather and climate, wildfire and water, changes at Earth's poles, air quality and atmospheric chemistry, water resources, solid Earth sciences, and more. Our researchers work in 10 CU Boulder departments and eight NOAA laboratories and centers. The Integrated Instrument Development Facility (https://cires.colorado.edu/research/integrated-instrument-development-facility) is multi-faceted, consisting of design, precision machine, electronics and scientific glassblowing shops dedicated to the design and fabrication of scientific instrumentation. Be Boulder. **What We Require** + Bachelors Degree in a science-related field. + Experience with: + Glassblowing. + Electronic circuit design and fabrication. + Microprocessor and other software development. + Operation of manual and CNC lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders. + CAD and CAM software. + TIG welding of stainless steels and aluminum for vacuum applications. + Brazing and soldering techniques. + Standard engineering materials as well as exotic materials such as ceramics and refractory metals. **What You Will Need** + Working knowledge of glassblowing. + Working knowledge of electronics circuit design and computer programming. + Working knowledge of machine tool operation and maintenance, engineering design, and drawing standards. + Demonstrated ability to learn new techniques. + Knowledge of material properties for ultra-high vacuum, cryogenic, and high pressure applications. **Special Instructions** To apply, please submit the following materials with your application: 1.
