Job Summary
The Circulation and Reserves Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the circulation and reserves unit, including supervision of student employees. The position performs a variety of other support functions, including reserves, building opening, and monetary responsibilities.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
+ Coordinates the daily operations of the circulation desk to ensure adequate supervision of students, desk coverage, and opening the library each morning. Works evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
+ Supervises and trains all student employees: manages timesheets, creates schedules, oversees all student worker projects; works closely with Financial Aid to ensure work-study policies are followed; hires and terminates all student workers.
+ Coordinates reserve operations including maintaining reserve collection, processing reserve materials; ensuring that copyright compliance is met and recommending policies and procedures to improve services.
+ Handles all financial responsibilities in Access Services – all cash, credit cards, petty cash, reconciliation, and other requirements. Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university plus one year of experience working in a library or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
+ Knowledge of library operations, especially circulation
+ Knowledge of customer service principles
+ Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, as appropriate for the needs of an audience
+ Ability to handle multiple assignments and projects effectively
+ Self-motivated to set priorities and work with limited direction/supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in an academic (higher education) library.
Experience working in library circulation or other library public service area
Supervisory experience
Knowledge of copyright issues as applied to library reserves.
