The Role:
Work is of a technical nature using independent judgment within the limits of GMS; focusing on Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE). Possess the ability to deal with complex problems. Supervise a small group of salaried employees involved in multiple departments/processes. May manage across multiple shifts.
The RESS CI & Launch Manager provides strategic leadership and direction to ensure the successful execution of manufacturing processes within the Rechargeable Energy Storage System (RESS) organization. This role is responsible for developing and implementing new processes, standards, and operational plans that align with organizational goals and have a direct impact on business outcomes. The ideal candidate will influence cross-functional teams, drive continuous improvement, and champion GM’s values with a strong focus on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
What You'll Do: (Responsibilities):
LEVEL EXPECTATIONS:
Lead, coach, and develop salaried and hourly employees across multiple departments.Ensure compliance with corporate policies, safety standards, environmental regulations, and labor agreements.Drive performance in safety, cost, quality, and schedule adherence.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet business objectives and launch milestones.Analyze and resolve complex manufacturing challenges; secure necessary resources to support operations.Oversee direct labor industrial engineering (IE) line balance activities for current and future models.Apply lean manufacturing principles and critical path methodology to optimize workflows and eliminate waste.Develop and monitor metrics to track progress, identify risks, and support data-driven decision-making.Conduct time studies, ergonomic evaluations, and implement workstation designs that meet safety and efficiency standards.Support Business Plan Deployment and GMS (Global Manufacturing System) implementation.Lead and prioritize multiple projects with a focus on throughput improvement and operational excellence.EXPERTISE:
Possesses in-depth knowledge and working experience in the area supervised. Has broad knowledge of related areas and demonstrates good business acumen.Serves as a resource to their team for technical expertise, interaction with other teams and departments, and company policies and processes.Works independently on driving team results, determines resources to complete team assignments. Creates and oversees operational plans for routine activities, which involve analyzing data and resolving issues within their area of responsibility. Additional Job DescriptionYour Skills & Abilities: (Required Qualifications):
Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.5+ years of experience in a manufacturing-related fieldProven ability to lead teams, solve complex problems, and manage multiple projects independently.Strong analytical skills with experience in data interpretation and strategic planning.Proficiency in tools such as Tableau, Power BI, PM&C, and downtime reporting systems.Experience with multi-site or multi-department manufacturing operations.Knowledge of LMS principles and industrial engineering practices.Ability to travel domestically and internationally 25% of the time or higher based on business needs.What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
Master's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.7+ years of experience in a manufacturing-related fieldPlant floor and leadership experience preferred.Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment.Familiarity with Opex/CI problem-solving methodologies.Experience with Workday and Kronos timekeeping systems.Understanding of Throughput Improvement Processes (TIP).Work Arrangement:
