General Summary:

To join Qualcomm Customer Engineering team and work with world leading Chrome-os(Aluminium) compute device makers from design & develop to commercially launch exciting or new Qualcomm compute SoC products. As a Firmware Software Engineer on the ChromeOS Aluminium team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining low-level firmware and drivers that enable ChromeOS devices to boot reliably and operate efficiently. You will work closely with hardware teams, OS developers, and cross-functional partners to deliver robust BIOS and HLOS driver solutions for next-generation ChromeOS platforms.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

• 1+ year of any combination of academic and/or work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
• 1+ year of any combination of academic and/or work experience with debugging techniques.

Responsibilities:

- Provide training to customers and communicate internal with feature design details

- Assisting customers with some software feature design

- Integration, development, system debugging on OEM designs.

- Handling customer Q&A, and working closely with internal developers.

- Analyze and resolve system-level issues including boot failures, power management bugs, and device initialization problems.

- Participate in code reviews, documentation, and continuous integration processes to ensure high-quality firmware delivery.

- Support factory and field teams with firmware-related diagnostics and updates.

Skill/Experiences: (BIOS)

- Strong experience in ChromeOS or Linux kernel driver, or firmware development (UEFI/BIOS)

- Experience with Qualcomm chipset software and firmware development

- Experience with JTAG debugging

- C/C++ software development experience

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Proficient in technical writing.
