We are seeking a talented individual to join our Underwriting team at Victor. Victor is the leading global managing general underwriter, helping customers define and address risk.
This role will be based in New York or Bethesda. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office. The Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) will play a pivotal role in shaping the underwriting strategy and ensuring the sustainable profitability and growth of our P&C insurance portfolio.
We will count on you to:
Develop and implement a comprehensive underwriting philosophy, standards, and strategies that align with business goals, regulatory compliance, and risk tolerance.
Lead oversight of the P&C insurance portfolio, ensuring sound risk selection, balanced exposure, and profitable growth.
Drive the growth of existing programs and spearhead the development of new programs that align with client needs and market opportunities.
Build, mentor, and manage high-performing underwriting teams across multiple geographies and segments, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
Collaborate with product and actuarial teams to design, refine, and launch innovative insurance products that respond to market needs and emerging risks.
Strengthen relationships with distribution partners, reinsurers, MGAs, and brokers to support underwriting goals and facilitate market expansion.
What you need to have:
Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Business, Risk Management, or related field (CPCU, ARM, or advanced degree preferred).
Minimum of ten years of progressive P&C insurance underwriting experience, including leadership of multiple programs within a business.
Proven ability to coach, mentor, and engage teams effectively, with strong leadership skills in managing distributed teams and complex portfolios.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $161,300 to $390,100.
The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
