Chief Radiation Therapist

Griffin Health is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Radiation Therapist to lead our Radiation Oncology team. This position is responsible for organizing and directing daily operations, ensuring efficient workflow, and supporting high-quality, person-centered cancer care. The Chief Radiation Therapist works closely with the Medical Director, physicians, and the physics team to ensure treatment protocols align with professional standards and regulatory guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

Direct and coordinate daily departmental operations to maintain smooth workflow.

Establish departmental goals and help implement policies and procedures aligned with organizational objectives.

Ensure all staff functions support the delivery of person-centered care.

Collaborate with physicians and physics team to uphold safety and best practices in treatment delivery.

Oversee and maintain the department’s Quality Assurance (QA) program.

Serve as a mentor and role model for staff, promoting professional development and high standards of care.

Perform duties within the scope of practice for licensed radiation therapists.

Qualifications:

Graduate of a Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (AMA) approved Radiation Therapy Technology Program or equivalent.

Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

Holds current State of Connecticut Radiation Therapy license and CPR certification.

Meets continuing medical education (CME) requirements.

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years as a practicing Radiation Therapist.

1–2 years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

Demonstrated competence in the principles and practice of radiation therapy and ability to care for patients across diverse backgrounds and age groups.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

Must be able to work under pressure and handle time-sensitive tasks.

Requires strong coordination, frequent walking, and ability to focus for extended periods despite interruptions.

Must be capable of multitasking, retaining detailed information, and applying complex concepts.
