Chief Physicist - WCMC Radiation Oncology - Full Time - 8 Hour - Days
Job Description:As part of the Leadership team for the Oncology services the Chief Physicist of Radiation Oncology supports and promotes the mission and strategic plan of John Muir Health (JMH). Provides leadership for system-wide physicists and dosimetrists within oncology services creating an efficient and productive team focused on delivering optimal patient care. Continually evaluates service effectiveness, developing plans to address shortcomings and build on strengths. The Chief Physicist will lead and manage the medical physics department within JMH, ensuring the safe and effective delivery of radiation therapy and diagnostic imaging services. This role involves overseeing all technical aspects of radiation oncology, maintaining the highest standards for patient safety, and coordinating with medical staff to optimize treatment outcomes. Works collaboratively with the Manager of Radiation Oncology Operations and the oncology service line, medical staff and other John Muir departments to provide premium radiotherapy support at the highest levels of technological and clinical development.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree - Required

Master's Degree Health Services Administration - Preferred

Master's Degree Business Administration - Preferred

Ph.D. or equivalent in Medical Physics or a related field - Required
 

Experience:

7 years experience working as a physicist within Radiation Oncology - Required

5 years of supervisory experience within a healthcare environment - required

Extensive Experience Working with Physicians - Required
 

Additional Experience:

Experience facilitating and managing challenging situations. In-depth understanding of all aspects of radiation oncology services, including significant management experience with operational and capital budgeting in a large health system.
 

Certifications/Licensures:

Therapeutic Medical Physics - ABR American Board of Radiology - Required

State of California Department of Public Health Registration Required and

MOC - Therapeutic Medical Physics - ABR American Board of Radiology - Preferred

Skills:

Strong knowledge of radiation therapy techniques, equipment, and safety protocols.

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a team-oriented environment demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member and to be accepted in a leadership role by a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

Demonstrated experience working with multiple stakeholders in facilitating high-level multi-disciplinary group decisions.

Pay Range:

$301,431.00 - $452,147.00Salary

Offer amounts are based on demonstrated/relevant experience and/or licensure.Pay will be adjusted to the local market if hired outside of the Bay Area.
Note: Positions at JMH which are exempt (not eligible for overtime) under the level of Manager are listed as hourly for compensation purposes on this posting. The work shift will contain the word ‘exempt’ on it.
