Function/Duties of Position

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a School of Dentistry executive and key member of the School
leadership team, responsible for implementing strategic initiatives for all mission areas, with an
emphasis in clinical education. The COO partners with the Dean and other leaders to implement a
culture of accountability and responsibility, data-driven decisions, planning, measuring, and learning,
while fostering inclusion, equity, support, and caring.


The COO supports the clinical, academic, and research mission areas by facilitating strategic
planning as well as tracking and reporting on key performance metrics, with the goal of improving
enterprise performance and outcomes.


The COO partners with members of the School leadership team to implement short- and long-term
plans to ensure the operations of the School are integrated and high performing, and aligned with the
mission, goals and objectives of the organization and those it serves.

Required Qualifications Master’s Degree in Business Administration, or similar advanced degreeMinimum 7 years of senior or executive level leadershipMinimum 5 years’ operations experience in a healthcare and/or academic settingMulti-disciplinary financial and administrative experience within a complex organizationExperience in strategic planning, goal setting, and metrics tracking in a healthcare and/or academic settingExperience leading, mentoring, and developing high-performing teamsStrong information technology skills and experience with a broad array of data
management strategiesExperience with productivity management systemsExperience with facility and space managementExperience providing guidance to ensure compliance with regulatory, legal, and
institutional policy and rules. Preferred Qualifications 10+ years of senior or executive level leadershipExperience with OHSU systems and organizational relationships, including internal and external
partnersExperience in the dental industry or dental education Additional Details
