Function/Duties of Position
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a School of Dentistry executive and key member of the School
leadership team, responsible for implementing strategic initiatives for all mission areas, with an
emphasis in clinical education. The COO partners with the Dean and other leaders to implement a
culture of accountability and responsibility, data-driven decisions, planning, measuring, and learning,
while fostering inclusion, equity, support, and caring.
The COO supports the clinical, academic, and research mission areas by facilitating strategic
planning as well as tracking and reporting on key performance metrics, with the goal of improving
enterprise performance and outcomes.
The COO partners with members of the School leadership team to implement short- and long-term
plans to ensure the operations of the School are integrated and high performing, and aligned with the
mission, goals and objectives of the organization and those it serves.
