About the role:

The Chief of Staff and Head of Legal Operations (Vice President) is a strategic leadership position that manages both the operational and administrative functions of the legal department, while also acting as a key advisor to the Global General Counsel (GGC). This role involves a blend of operational, strategic, and administrative responsibilities, ensuring the legal team runs efficiently and effectively while aligning with the overall business objectives. The role also includes oversight of operations and strategy across the function as well as project management oversight.

How you will contribute:

Partner with the General Counsel (GC) to develop and implement the legal department's strategic plan, ensuring alignment with the company's overall goals.Support the GC in the execution of the legal department's vision, ensuring organization-wide alignment with objectives.Manage the day-to-day operations of the legal department, including budgeting, technology, and process improvement initiatives.Drive strong alignment and collaboration within the legal department and across other functions.Oversee legal technology, e-discovery, records management, and outside counsel management.Design and oversee governance coordination and orchestrate key leadership touchpoints.Manage the legal department's budget, track expenses, and analyze financial reports to ensure efficient resource allocation.Support key initiatives such as cost savings and revenue growth.Manage relationships with outside counsel, including negotiating rates and ensuring adherence to established guidelines.Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders across different departments to understand their needs and ensure the legal team is providing effective support.Serve as the central liaison for the GC, facilitating communication with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders.Manage complex projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget, and keep the General Counsel informed of progress.Orchestrate and allocate resources for key projects and initiatives.Assist in managing communications for the legal department, including internal and external communications, for GC’s final review and approval.Foster strong internal communications by socializing key initiatives and communicating progress.Evaluate and implement new legal technologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness.Develop and implement legal policies and procedures to ensure compliance and mitigate risk.Direct Organizational Change Management (OCM) processes to ensure that initiatives are effectively communicated, adopted, and sustained.

Preferred Qualifications:

15+ years of professional experience, including 10+ years in legal.Juris Doctor (JD) degree preferredStrong leadership and management skills; ability to lead and motivate a team, manage projects, and drive change.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities; ability to think strategically, identify problems, and develop creative solutions.Strong organizational and prioritization skills; ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure.Legal operations expertise; understanding of legal technology, e-discovery, records management, and outside counsel management.Strong financial acumen: ability to manage budgets, track expenses, and analyze financial reports.Experience with legal technology; familiarity with legal technology platforms and tools.Experience with alternative fee arrangements (AFAs); knowledge of AFAs and the ability to negotiate and implement them.Experience with law firm billing and pricing; understanding of law firm billing practices and pricing models

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$255,800.00 - $401,940.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location. 

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
