This is an exciting opportunity to join the fastest growing university in the state of Texas. The next School of Nursing’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is a crucial member of the College of Health Sciences Executive Leadership Team that represents three schools: the School of Nursing, the School of Health and Clinical Professions and the School of Kinesiology. The College of Health Science has financially benefitted from the 88th and 89th legislative sessions in Texas, allowing for new program development and strengthening of existing programs, and is fully committed to addressing health disparities and meeting the health needs of populations situated in rural Texas.
The School of Nursing offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Traditional, LVN-BSN, RN-BSN) and a Master of Science in Nursing (Education and Administration) with a projected CRNA (DNP) program starting in 2027. The ideal candidate can creatively address the changing landscape in higher education and academic nursing.
This full-time administrative faculty position is based at the Stephenville, Texas, campus with outreach instructional sites in Fort Worth and Waco, serving over 400 students across traditional BSN, LVN-BSN, RN-BSN, and MSN programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Vision and planning: create a vision and strategic plan for the School of Nursing that aligns with and contributes to the institutional goals outlined in Tarleton Forward 2030 (https://www.tarleton.edu/tarletonforward/) ;
+ Accreditation and administration: oversee and ensure compliance and consistency with the Texas A&M University System (TAMUS), Texas Board of Nursing (BON), Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC);
+ Fiduciary decisions: manage the school budget and other resources;
+ Student success: guide processes that track, monitor, measure, and document student completion and/or program outcomes.
+ Faculty success: direct the SON leadership team in faculty hiring, workload assignments, professional development, performance appraisal, and tenure and promotion.
+ Academic program development and assessment: support and mentor faculty in continuous improvement of existing academic curriculum and programs and development of new programs.
+ Partnership building: facilitate institutional relationships with colleges and universities, health care systems, community groups, and other external stakeholders, including selection of clinical training sites;
+ Connection and belonging: foster appreciation for intercultural experiences, commitment to systemic accessibility, and eliminating barriers that impact success for all students, faculty, and staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
+ Masters and doctoral degrees in nursing (MSN and DNP) that meet leadership expectations of the Texas Board of Nursing.
+ Unencumbered and current license or privilege to practice as a registered nurse in Texas.
+ Must qualify for appointment as full professor in the College of Health Sciences with ten years (3-5 years in nursing education administration or executive level nursing administration) or more related broad experience in higher education – teaching, scholarship, and university administration.
+ Track record of participation in organizations related to the profession.
+ Training and experience necessary to be accountable for the planning, implementing, and evaluating all aspects of the nursing education programs in the School of Nursing.
+ Strong time management, problem-solving, and goal setting skills.
+ Management skills including data-informed decision-making and conflict resolution.
+ Interpersonal skills including clear written and oral communication, active listening, diplomacy, and team building.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ Impactful and progressive record of leadership in a professional setting that may include higher education, government, and/or a healthcare facility.
+ Ability to provide stewardship and adaptability to position the School of Nursing for success within the changing environments of higher education and the professional practice of nursing.
Salary Range
The target base annual salary range is commensurate with experience and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
