Boeing is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Internal Research and Development Chief Engineer to lead the advancement and optimization of the PAC-3 seeker system in Huntsville, AL. This role is primarily focused on hardware development of radar seeker technologies, with responsibility for overseeing the integration of software and algorithm development to ensure seamless system performance. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to elevate Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) of seeker technologies, driving innovation and technical excellence in the PAC-3 missile system.
Position Responsibilities:
Lead the hardware research, development, and optimization efforts for the IAMD seeker systems, focusing on radar technologies
Oversee the integration of software and algorithm development with hardware to ensure cohesive system functionality
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including systems engineering, software, hardware, and test & evaluation to advance TRL levels
Develop and implement technical strategies to enhance seeker performance, reliability, and manufacturability
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to align development efforts with program goals and timelines
Oversee design reviews, risk assessments, and validation activities
Stay abreast of emerging radar technologies and integrate relevant advancements into the IAMD seeker roadmap
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
Extensive experience (10+ years) in radar system hardware design, development, and integration
Proven track record in leading multidisciplinary engineering teams
Strong knowledge of seeker hardware technologies and radar signal processing
Experience with Technology Readiness Level (TRL) maturation processes
Comfortable working in a less structured, fast-paced, and evolving R&D setting
Strong skills in risk management and mitigation in early-stage technology development
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Master’s or PhD
Experience with RF seeker and seeker subsystems in missile or defense applications
Familiarity with digital signal processing techniques and tools
Familiarity with modeling and simulation tools for radar systems
Background in systems engineering and integration
Experience managing IRAD projects or similar internal research initiatives

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range: $147,050 - $198,950
