Description
TheGeorgia Military College (GMC) Chief of Policeserves as the Institutional Law Enforcement and Public Safety subject matter expert for daily operations on and around GMC’s main campus and works directly with GMC Senior Leadership to assist in carrying out all institutional mission objectives. The Chief of Police is expected to conduct regular coordination and collaboration with academic, athletic, administrative, and support services of the College and Prep School (grades K-12). Oversees primary Law Enforcement response efforts for on campus matters associated with the Corps of Cadets. Maintains close partnerships, and leads coordination efforts with Local, Federal, and State Law Enforcement as well as other Public Safety agencies within the region. This position has overall responsibility for directing and overseeing the GMC Police Department, and for providing a safe and secure environment for the campus community. The Chief of Police has responsibility for planning, organizing, and directing the operations of the GMC Police Department. This includes providing a community oriented policing environment and developing safety programs as well as patrolling activities, criminal investigations, parking, and traffic enforcement, crime prevention education, internal training, student safety seminars, workshops, and any other duties as assigned. The Chief of Police plans, directs, and evaluates all aspects of integrated police and security operations and ensures the enforcement of Local, State, and Federal laws, Clery Act requirements, Title IX requirements, and all relevant GMC policies and procedures. Serves as a primary consultant for Law Enforcement matters at GMC’s satellite campuses, and serves as a direct coordinator, collaborator, and consultant for any Law Enforcement Officers or Security Officers employed by GMC at satellite campuses. The GMC Chief of Police is the Senior Law Enforcement official for Georgia Military College and primary liaison to all other Law Enforcement agencies, to include U.S. Military Law Enforcement components associated with Institutional programs.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
+ Associate's Degree
+ GA P.O.S.T certified Police Officer with valid arrest powers
+ Certified Law Enforcement Security Officer by GA Bureau of Investigation for GCIC /NCIC
+ Certified in National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses 700,100,800, and 200
+ Pass a comprehensive background check
+ 5 years in Law Enforcement
+ Skill in financial planning and fiscal management
+ Able to physically control/restrain a person
+ Must be proficient in verbal communications and de-escalation tactics
+ Knowledge of emergency and disaster recovery planning
+ Extensive knowledge of Federal/State/ Local laws and ordinances, particularly the Cleary Act, Title IX, the laws of Arrest, Use of Force, and evidence collection /storage/ management
+ Full familiarity with school policies in Public Safety
Preferred:
+ Georgia Chief Executive certification
+ Bachelor's Degree or Higher in Criminal Justice Field
+ Graduate of GA Law Enforcement Command College
+ NIMS 300 and 400
+ 8 years or more in Law Enforcement
+ Supervisory experience in Law Enforcement
+ Law Enforcement experience at a college or university
+ Advanced Law Enforcement
+ Supervisory/Management Training Certification
