Chemistry Sample Prep. Specialist

Job Description:

This role will coordinate and perform a variety of technical and administrative activities in support of the day to day running of the laboratory sample preparation room assuring product quality at the MGS Regional Laboratory. This position is responsible for communication with key customers to ensure timely results (Pre-mix releases, raw ingredient qualification, and NIR calibration samples). This professional is a crucial member of the Regional Laboratory Chemistry Team and reports directly to the Chemistry Operations Manager

What are we looking for?

Bachelor’s DegreeExperience working in a production lab environment.Working knowledge of ISO 17025 standardKnowledge of food safety and nutrition an assetKnowledge of Laboratory Information Management (LIMS) systems.Good organizational skills to adapt to fluctuating workloads while maintaining appropriate attention to detail.Demonstrate ability to follow established laboratory safety procedures, to maintain accurate records, and to clearly and accurately read and write and transcribe data and analytical chemistry literature.Good communications skills - verbal and written communication.Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently or as a member of a team.Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of laboratory safety, chemicals management and chemical hygiene plans.Flexibility to changing priorities and timelines.

What will be your key responsibilities?Manage day to day and special project sample preparation – crushing/grinding/blendingManage the flow of samples within the sample room as well as the release of sample aliquots to internal and external laboratories.Ensure proper sample management focusing on eliminating cross-contamination, sample homogenization and ensuring proper sample particle sizing.Maintain preparation tools and equipmentWhen appropriate, help to write/create documents for, and always follow laboratory quality management systems ISO 17025 and Mars Global Laboratory Quality Management System.Follow Health & Safety requirements for Site and Lab.Work as a team player including open and honest communication, respecting confidentiality with any laboratory information.
