Chemical Plant Operator

This role is responsible for mixing chemical batches by following standard formulas, applicable instructions and current standard operating procedures.

What You Will Do:

Review daily mix schedules and ensures the raw materials required are availableFollow mix instructions and accurately adds raw materials to the mixes manually, using pumps or mixing systemsMix batches using variable agitationPerform routine observation of product during the mixing and filling process to ensure batch quality. Report any out-of-spec raw material, premixes or mixed batches and consult with Quality personnel on any batch adjustments.Properly clean out all mix tanksOperate fork trucks, palletizers, scales, pumps and other material handling equipment to transport raw material and finished productPerform building and equipment preventative maintenancePerform other duties as assigned
 

Position Details:

Plant location: Vancouver, WAWork week and shift: Rotating Shifts Mon - Fri 4am-12pm & 9am-5pmCompensation package offered: $29.00 / hour
 

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or GEDForklift or equipment operating experience (heavy equipment, pulling trailers, etc.)No Immigration Sponsorship available for this opportunity
 

Physical Demands:

Daily Tasks:

Lift and carry 50 lbs repeatedly, including lifting overheadPush/pull mobile pump and filter carts (up to 500 lbs) 10-20 timesLift hoses and fittings (up to 50 lbs) above shoulder height 10-40 timesCarry hoses (5'-20', up to 50 lbs) 10-20 timesSquat, bend, and climb (both ladders and steps) frequentlyClimb side ladders on tank trailers 10-20 timesFrequently operate sit down forkliftWear rubber boots for entire shift

Weekly Tasks:

Lift and dump 50 lb bags at waist heightClimb railcar ladders with fall arrest equipment 5-10 timesClimb in/out of yard truck, connect/disconnect trailers, set wheel chocks 10-20 timesOpen wastewater press and slide plates 20-50 timesWear full slicker suit 1-2 hours, 5-10 timesWear full-face respirator 1-2 hours, 2-10 times

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience working in a chemical and/or manufacturing environmentBasic knowledge of chemistry1 year of previous experience working in a manufacturing or warehouse environmentAbility to use basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and divisionAbility to read and match numbers on shipping records, labels, raw materials and finished goodsAbility to work safely and efficientlyAbility to work in a fast-paced environment Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team

Annual or Hourly Compensation Range:

This position pays an hourly rate of $29.00 / hour Many factors are taken into consideration when determining compensation, such as experience, education, training, geography, etc. We comply with all minimum wage and overtime laws.
