DuPont’s Water & Protection is recruiting for Chemical Operator to join its dynamic team located at its manufacturing site in Edina-Minneapolis, MN. We are looking for people who have a passion for delivering innovative, sustainable solutions that meet our customer needs for a better, healthier, safer life.

The Chemical Operator in the Membrane production area assists with the production of water elements (membrane). Chemical Operators will be involved in different rotations on the production lines. Operators rotate roles (described below) based on business, shift and ergonomics needs. Besides the primary rotations, the operator needs to fix or adjust the machines with hand tools as needed.

Operator Rotation 1 - Machine Operator

Splicing and loading of web rolls onto unwind by job related equipment as needed.

Mixing of chemical vats.

Perform machinery and chemical checks to monitor the process.

Monitor machines, anticipate and respond to alarms as they arise.

Keep the machine area cleaned and organized. Stack pallets by driving forklift or manually. Empty trash from the area.

Operator Rotation 2 - Chemical Operator

Perform machinery and chemical checks.

Check membrane quality at machine viewing station frequently. Look for and eliminate common defects.

Monitor machines, anticipate and respond to alarms as they arise.

Take off sub-rolls from rewind by using hoist.

Fill out run sheets/scrap reports.

Monitor chemical tank levels using a control panel and mix/test new chemical as needed.

Prepare a chemical mix by using dolly, cart, buckets, and vacuum. Mix chemicals manually.

Operator Rotation 3 - Testing Operator

Print labels for tested membrane rolls/runs.

Move membrane carts to staging area by using pallet jack or forklift.

Perform Boiler check every two hours, including walking through of Boiler Room.

Perform machinery checklists and housekeeping.

Monitor storage tank level of chemical and off-load chemicals.

Mix, monitor and fill hazardous chemical totes and tanks.

Off-load bulk chemicals.

Qualifications

A minimum of a High School diploma, G.E.D. (or equivalent) required; a 2-year technical degree (or equivalent) is required

A minimum of 2 or more years of related manufacturing/production experience is preferred

Previous work experience in a food manufacturing/GMP environment is preferred

Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word, Excel, and Outlook, and have the ability to learn new systems quickly is required

Ability to read, write, and speak English is required

Previous fork-lift experience is preferred

Mechanical aptitude; experience troubleshooting equipment and machines is preferred

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills

Must be willing and able to work in manufacturing environments to include; wearing safety equipment, such as earplugs, gloves, safety glasses, hardhats, hairnets, and steel-toed shoes are required

While performing the duties of this job, you may be required to stand; walk (up and down stairs); twist; bend; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or climb for extended periods of time; and will require the ability to lift and/or move up to 45 pounds, and push up to 65 lbs is required

Ability to work 8-to-12-hour shifts, fixed schedule, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed on a regular basis as required.

The Pay range for this role is $23.86 - $37.50 Hourly
