Chemical Dependency Counselor at Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center San Pedro in San Pedro, CA. This position is Part-time and will work 8-hour, Day shifts.

The certified counselor provides support and builds relationship with patients who have a chemical dependency diagnosis to ensure a successful transition from home or hospital setting to the Chemical Dependency unit. Support includes brief assessment of status of chemical dependency issue, assessment of readiness for change, identification of coverage for services, referral to appropriate services and follow-up to ensure services are received. Serves as a link between organizations serving persons with chemical dependency needs and the Medical Center to improve coordination of services. Assists with facilitation of clinical groups, individual counseling, and discharge planning needs of the patient. Assist with intake duties when appropriate. Screen all intake calls, log intake calls on appropriate call log, screen and validate insurance, work with nursing and medical staff on all new patients being reviewed for admission.

Required Qualifications:
Coursework/Training: Completion of CADC or CATC program in good standing within 90 days of hire.Within 90 days of hire: California Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor I - California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals orWithin 90 days of hire: California Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor II - California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals orWithin 90 days of hire: California Licensed Advanced Alcohol Drug Counselor - California Consortium of Addiction Programs and ProfessionalsWithin 90 days of hire: California Alcohol/Other Drug Counselor Clinical Supervisor - California Association of DUI Treatment2 years work experience in an addiction treatment acute/non-acute setting.Preferred Qualifications:
