Overview
ATCO Frontec is seeking a skilled and experienced Chef to lead kitchen operations at the Canadian Forces Military Staff College in North York. This role involves overseeing food preparation, maintaining cleanliness and safety standards, and ensuring high-quality service to military personnel, including serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily.
Compensation: $65,000 annually
Responsibilities
Manage food services in strict compliance with food service standards and applicable regulations. Prepare all foods to be served at the designated time. Maintain inventory control to ensure proper minimum stock levels. Order supplies in accordance with the population of the lodge. Ensure that meals are prepared and served to the highest standard. Ensure kitchen staff complete their tasks in a professional and timely manner. Train workers in food preparation, service, sanitation, and safety procedures. Assign duties, responsibilities, and work areas to ensure efficient service. Inspect facilities or equipment for regulatory compliance. Clean kitchen, utensils, and equipment. Perform other duties as assigned by management from time to time.
Qualifications
Red Seal Certification is required. 3–4 years’ experience as a Chef in the hotel/restaurant industry. Minimum 3 years of chef experience within the last 5 years. Advanced Food Safe Certificate is required. Professional communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to work with and supervise other kitchen employees. Strong organisation and leadership skills. Ability to prioritise and multitask. Work well under pressure. Effective problem-solving skills. Must be based in Toronto Area
The successful candidate will be required to complete drug and alcohol testing, as well as obtain criminal background and government security clearance as part of the hiring process.
