NaphCare is hiring a Charge Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team of medical professionals in Dayton, OH, where we manage all aspects of healthcare for the individuals who are currently incarcerated in the Montgomery County Detention Center. This position is part-time and will work Monday nights.

 

As a Correctional Charge Registered Nurse (RN), you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to the individuals in residence. Working within a controlled environment, where security is top priority and the days are never dull, you will have a variety of clinical and supervisory duties to keep you engaged. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex medical needs.

Responsibilities

Job Duties / Responsibilities

The Charge Registered Nurse coordinates the delivery of nursing care services within the facility during the staffs assigned shifts to ensure we are medical care protects the rights, dignity, and health of our unique patient population. Duties and responsibilities may include and are not limited to:

Performing initial health screenings and physical assessments of newly detained individualsMonitoring and documenting patient health including vital signs, medical historiesConducting daily clinical rounds, providing direct patient care, triaging, assessing patient needs, developing care plans, and coordinating servicesResponding to medical emergencies, providing first aid, and ensuring timely transport to appropriate healthcare facilitiesEducating patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse preventionUnderstanding and adhering to correctional facility security protocols, while working closely with correctional officers and other healthcare professionals, to ensure the safety and well-being of patientsMaintaining accurate medical records, documenting treatment plans, and reporting any relevant information Qualifications

Education / Licenses / Certifications / Requirements

Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse within the State Possess an active CPR certificationMust pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening

 

Experience / Skills

Two years of full time RN experience with knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services.Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential informationExcellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skillsAble to work independently and in a teamFlexible schedule and availability to work overtime when neededIntegrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements

 

Physical Capabilities:

Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
