Description

Responsibilities:
Assures that overall patient care within the department is provided in a patient-centered, efficient, healing environment.Have authority, responsibility and accountability to assure that: The interdisciplinary team providing patient services within the department are meeting standards to achieve optimal patient outcomes within anticipated length of stayDepartmental and organizational goals are met.Unit patient flow is optimized.Appropriate patient placementEquipment availability and maintenanceSuccessfully coordinates and integrates services within the department and with other departments.Recommends a sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide care and services.Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services.Continuously assesses and improves the department’s performance.Develops and maintains budget; Searches for ways to improve financial performance.Provides for orientation, in-service training, and continuing education of all persons in the department; Ensures that staff are training and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their roles.Maintains appropriate quality control programs. Identifies and removes barriers which interfere with timely patient flow.Ensures completion of checks and balances that support patient safety and quality of careCoordinates unit activity and patient flowOversees walking/bedside report in absence of Clinical Lead RNLeads staff huddles at beginning and ending of shiftPrioritizes and facilitates activities to optimize admission and discharge processesPrioritizes and facilitates flow of patient care to attain length of stay goals and positive patient outcomesFacilitates communication of significant information to the Clinical Lead RN.Resourceful in assisting department to meet financial goals by:Managing the appropriate use of personnel, materials and suppliesAssessing staffing needs for current and upcoming shift to assure safe, cost-effective patient careCollaborating with Clinical Lead and/or supervisor to meet staffing needsAssist Clinical Lead in communicating fiscal goals and expectations to staffMonitoring staff overtime and timely completion of shift dutiesProvide supply oversight, assures adequate ordering and use of supplies. Qualifications
Required:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursingMinimum of two years of Clinical experienceCurrent Registered Nurse license with the State of IllinoisBasic Life Support certificationCPR – ACLS certificationCPR – PALS on Pediatric areaPreferred:
