OVERVIEW:
The position of TWO Chaplain and Ministry Integration Coordinator (Lead) oversees the spiritual ministry of The Way Out, a recovery focused homeless initiative designed to restore lives and promote wellness based in San Francisco. The system includes a 4-step process of treatment on demand, residential treatment, transformational living center (3 residential locations), and independence and empowerment. This position’s primary focus is ministry to those in the post-residential treatment stage (Harborlight, ARC, etc.) of The Way Out continuum. It is vital to support the holistic needs of participants by offering spiritual/pastoral care and accountability through the residential chaplaincy.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work in coordination with secondary/associate chaplain to fulfill the following:
• Assist with planning and leading a once weekly in-residence Chapel/House Meeting in coordination with Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) Administrators
• Plan, schedule, promote, and lead a weekly in-residence Bible Study
• Assist with the leadership and promotion of weekly Celebrate Recovery meetings
• Prepare and conduct a short once-a-week devotional for students in the Culinary Training Academy (3 ten-week sessions per year)
• Promote and coordinate Sunday Worship meeting particiant attendance at SoMa Corps. Will require participating in driving rotation to transport participants to/from Corps location
• Provide support to The Way Out’s leadership team in planning and connecting with members of the Alumni Network
• Interview all incoming participants and provide a general orientation to available chaplain and ministry services; perform initial spiritual inventory
• Keep open door “office hours” three nights per week for participants seeking pastoral counseling and Biblically-aligned guidance
• Work in coordination with the TWO residential leadership team (multi-site) to collaborate and support one another in meeting the needs of the participants and program
• Work in coordination with Corps Officers at SF Metro Corps to cultivate network of support for participants and establish longer-term faith community to aid sense of belonging and stability (accomplished through collaborative ongoing and seasonal events, fellowship opportunities, life groups, etc.)
• Gather and report statistics for all Chaplain related duties
• Ensure pastoral care files for each individual remain current and confidential
• Manage budget for Chapliancy related expenses
• Maintain confidentiality, and when necessary report legally required information as a mandated reporter
• Other related duties as required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• BA or BS degree in related field (preferred)
• Uniform wearing Salvationist (preferred)
• Theological alignment with The Salvation Army detailed in our Articles of Faith & Doctrine
• Experience in pastoral care and recovery and homeless ministry (2 years preferred)
• California driver’s license (required)

• Knowledge of Salvation Army city programs, practices, policies and organization desirable
