Context:

Guinness Ghana Breweries is a leading brewer and marketer of premium alcoholic and malt drinks in Ghana. It has the vision of being the Ghana’s most celebrated business.

The alcohol market in Ghana has changed rapidly; re-shaping the path to purchase for alcohol shoppers. Changing consumer behaviours, advances in data and analytics, channel shifts from the traditional On and Off trade channels to include but not limited to:

Increase in E- commerce business,Rise of 3rd & 4th Consumption spaces, Reduced Consumer share of wallet and AwarenessSensitivity of pricing regimes & product offers,

Trade is evolving and being more sophisticated especially at the retail level. Guinness Ghana operates in a very competitive environment that has seen the entrance of new players in the total alcohol category which necessitates a flawless execution to guarantee our plans.

Purpose and scope of role

This role will act as a business partner to our field sales teams to ensure they have all the insight, growth drivers & tools they need to deliver brilliant execution of GGBL’s commercial plan to shift consumer & shopper behaviour to achieve GGBL’s financial and market share ambition:

This role is accountable for driving execution of the channel strategy and initiatives in  On and Off Trade with the Commercial Sales force and customers as well as consumers.

It involves partnering and collaboration with the Divisional Customer Marketing Executives, the Divisional Sales Managers, Sales Executives, Area Sales Managers, Activation Agencies, promoters, etc in bringing to life the activities that have been planned for the Channel.

Role Responsibilities:

Activity Execution – back office

Activity recommendation and securing approval from relevant collaborators at least 1month before start of activity

Following up with procurement for PFIs from Agencies or vendors

Raising of Purchase Orders to vendors/Agencies for commencement of activities ahead of timelines

Ensure vendors deliver samples for approval before mass printing

Raising of free issues and ensuring timely shipment to the Distributors at least 1 week before start of activity

Shipment of POSMs to support activity execution in trade

Aligning and briefing of agency and agency promoters on activity mechanics

Holding of agency meetings to drive accountability on execution

M&E completion and sign off within timelines

Activity Execution – Field Sales

Ensure the briefing of sales team  and customers on all activities before go live

Ensure all logistics are shipped to the sales team a week to start of activity

Secure outlets list from sales team a week to start of activity

Be on the field to recce venues outlets selected for any activity activations

Robust activity reconciliation with the sales team, distributors, etc

Conduct mystery shopping to ensure free issues for activities are reaching the customers directly

Activity Execution Report

Supervise and track activity performance by division and distributor to understand the underlying factors driving activity performance.

Engage the field sales team to gather insights driving activity performance

Drive engagement with relevant collaborators to remove road blocks ensuring smooth implementation of activities

Experience / skills required:

A strong commercial background with minimum 5 years commercial experience and a proven track record in performance

Relevant University Degree. An MBA or master’s in business will be an added advantage.

Ability to work under pressure, without ambiguity and at pace with strict timelines on multiple projects.

Polished and engaging presentation and selling skills – You must have sufficient gravitas to present to and influence key customers at a senior level internally and externally.

Execution Excellence: handle execution of plans brilliantly through other people and teams, demonstrate smart critical metric setting, clear measurement controls along with execution insight and course correction.

Influencing Skills –Build great relationships and collaboration cross-functionally, the business hierarchy, Key Distributors and within the Trade Channel move with pace. Lead and encourage the senior management teams to the biggest possibility and align to course corrections where required.
