Description We are looking for a highly skilled CFO/Business Unit Controller to join our team in Queens, New York. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead financial operations within a construction sub-contracting organization, which is a subsidiary of a larger construction firm. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in accounting, internal controls, and financial reporting, while fostering a strong team environment. Responsibilities: • Oversee all accounting and controlling operations for the business unit, providing leadership and guidance to a high-performing finance team. • Manage the monthly financial close process for construction activities, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial reports. • Develop and monitor internal controls to comply with public company standards, proactively addressing financial risks and audit issues. • Lead productivity initiatives within the finance department, including automating accounting processes and driving operational efficiency. • Maintain expertise in technical accounting matters such as revenue recognition, unapproved change orders, claims, and other relevant standards. • Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful annual and quarterly audits related to construction operations. • Deliver critical financial insights and operational data to executive management, offering actionable recommendations to enhance financial performance. • Contribute to special projects and handle ad hoc requests as needed. • Support compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements and other regulatory standards.
