You'll be responsible for maintaining aseptic technique, anticipating the surgeon’s needs, and handling instrumentation and advanced technologies that support surgical excellence. **Key Responsibilities:** + Ensure proper preparation and maintenance of instruments, equipment, and sterile field + Collaborate with the surgical team to provide safe and effective care + Maintain awareness of each patient’s history, allergies, and procedural plan + Assist with intraoperative pharmacology, sharps safety, specimen handling, and temperature regulation + Document activities accurately and thoroughly in accordance with policy + Support the principles of patient safety, infection control, and procedural efficiency **What You’ll Bring** **Required Qualifications:** + Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program (CAAHEP) or equivalent structured training program + Certification required for those without experience in a surgical facility prior to July 1, 2013 + Strong knowledge of aseptic and sterile technique, surgical anatomy, and instrumentation **Preferred:** + Prior experience as a surgical technologist is welcome but not required **Skills & Competencies:** + Proven attention to detail, excellent hand-eye coordination, and ability to anticipate surgical needs + Proficiency in medical terminology, specimen handling, and intraoperative communication + Commitment to maintaining safety, teamwork, and patient-centered care **Why Baystate Wing Hospital?** At Baystate Wing, you’ll be part of a community hospital known for compassionate care and high standards of surgical practice—all backed by the strength and innovation of the Baystate Health system.
