arrangement of surgical equipment and supplies in the operating room to each operation assists the surgeon during the operation as allowed by professional and legal standards and assists with cleaning the operating room after the operation ensuring proper routing of equipment and used material Responsibilitiesmiddot Assesses and obtains supplies equipment and instruments as necessary for each surgical procedure utilizing staff and written resources appropriately Sets up for each procedure according to established OR table set ups Labels all medications as ordered via the surgeonanesthesiologistmiddot Assures availabilityreadiness of all necessary equipment and supplies Responsible for assuring the sterility of the operative field Drapes the patient as requested Assists the surgeon during the operative procedure and is responsible for performingdocumenting all counts Assists with the room turnovers and may assist with the transport of the patientmiddot Precepts for scrub technologists on orientation and scrub technology students in clinical training Provides instruction in scrubbing technique for RNs and other healthcare students as directed Maintains instrumentation knowledge base by performing job tasks as described in the OR Support Services job description when required Assists in updating clinical resources eg instrument and preference lists and teaching aidsmiddot Demonstrates knowledge of intraoperative patient care spectrum and performs according to basic standards of care Maintains a safe environment for the patient by following policies and procedures related to the environment eg surgical asepsis electrical and safety OR sanitation processing and sterilization of instrumentation infection control and tissuefluid cultures middot Demonstrates competencies including knowledge and behaviors to meet age specific patient needsmiddot Demonstrates critical thinking skills in relation to anticipating the perioperative needs of the patient and surgeonmiddot Assists in performing circulating skills and tasksmiddot Applies knowledge related to emergency situations and surgical procedures in the operating roommiddot Assesses and obtains supplies equipment and instruments as necessary for each surgical procedure utilizing staff and written resources appropriately Sets up for each procedure according to
