Certified Pharmacy Technician
Job Title: Pharmacy Technician Job Description Join the Pharmacy Services team within a leading healthcare insurance organization as a Pharmacy Technician. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing prior authorization requests and making initial determination decisions—approving or denying them before forwarding to a pharmacist for final review. You’ll work with a variety of health plans and medication types, and may occasionally handle phone communications with members. Responsibilities + Monitor and track coverage determination requests submitted by healthcare providers. + Assess whether pharmacist review is necessary for specific requests. + Obtain verbal authorizations and request clinical documentation from prescribers. + Approve coverage determinations based on established criteria and guidelines. + Accurately document decisions in the Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) system and communicate outcomes to providers or members. + Address client inquiries related to authorization decisions and PBM system usage. + Refer specialty drug requests to designated vendors or clients for further processing. + Contact providers to gather additional information needed for comprehensive reviews. + Notify physicians, providers, and members of final determination outcomes. Essential Skills + High school diploma or GED. + Active Pharmacy Registration and Certification as required by state regulations. + Basic computer proficiency. + Registered Pharmacy Technician status. + Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook. + Excellent customer service capabilities. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Nationally Certified Technician is a plus and required for some supervisory roles. Work Environment This position operates in aprofessional remote work environment, requiring the use ofmultiple screens and various systems. To ensure optimal performance, astrong Wi-Fi connectionand adedicated home office space with a closed doorare essential. The role offers aflexible weekday schedule, allowing you to workMonday through Friday between 8:00 AM and 7:00 PMin your local time zone.Rotating weekend shiftsoccur every4 to 6 weeks, and occasionalholiday workmay be required. Training is conducted Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM EST. All necessary equipment—including a computer, monitor, and headset—will be provided. Whileovertime is not mandatory, it may be offered periodically. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position that is fully remote. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
