Johnson Service Group (JSG), a nationally award-winning staffing firm, has an immediate opportunity for a Certified Payroll and HR Specialist to join an established Electrical Contractor in San Diego.
Contract to Hire | Onsite | $34 - $36/Hr. based on skills, education, experience, and other relevant qualifications.
Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Certified Payroll & HR Specialist to manage certified payroll reporting, prevailing wage compliance, and a variety of HR processes. This role requires accuracy, confidentiality, and a strong understanding of payroll practices and employment regulations.
Responsibilities and Duties Process weekly payroll for hourly, salaried, and prevailing wage employees. Collect and verify employee timesheets and hours worked. Calculate payroll adjustments, including overtime, deductions, and bonuses. Maintain accurate records of pay rates, wages, benefits, and new hire information. Respond to payroll inquiries from employees and supervisors in a timely manner. Prepare and distribute payroll and HR reports for management. Complete monthly union reporting of wages and hours worked. Manage employee onboarding and offboarding processes. Set up employees in HRIS/payroll databases and maintain personnel records. Organize and file employee documentation, including contracts, benefits, and training records. Requirements and Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll and HR support. Certified Payroll reporting experience required, with knowledge of state and federal prevailing wage regulations and PLA/PSA project requirements. Strong knowledge of payroll best practices and compliance standards. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Sage 300 software preferred. Detail-oriented, highly organized, and committed to confidentiality. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field preferred. #D800 #LI-FZ1
