The role you’ll contribute:

The Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist is a highly specialized and educated Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging science professional and is responsible for performing all tasks related to the use of radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic evaluation and/or therapeutic intervention, in addition to the securing, handling and storing of non-pharmaceutical based radioactive materials.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

· Correctly identifies, calculates, assays, calibrates and prepares various radiopharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical agents for diagnostic imaging, in-vivo or in-vitro examination, and/or therapeutic intervention by various biological routes of administration. Properly and aseptically administers radiopharmaceuticals utilizing correct technique(s) and timing protocol(s) depending on physiologic conditions and examination requested. Communicates effectively and clearly with radiopharmacy for management of radioactive materials receipt, disposition and disposal.

· Displays a high level of competence and knowledge of Nuclear Medicine procedural examinations. Is able to research and locate important clinical information relevant to examination outcome. Properly communicates and explains, mitigates concern, prepares and addresses needs of patients before, during and following Nuclear Medicine procedures. Properly evaluates patient conditions for continued safety of patient, family and employees. Functions as a liaison between patient and physician and other adjunctive staff to ensure high quality patient outcome. Consults Authorized Physician User for radioactive materials as required by protocol or otherwise needed.

· Displays a thorough knowledge of safe radioactive material handling techniques, including but not limited to; proper receiving of various types of radioactive materials, correct testing techniques for removable and isotopic contamination, proper dosimetry and surveying of radiation fields, timely and accurate documentation according to hospital policy as well as Nuclear Regulatory Commission and State of Texas Regulations for Control of Radiation regulations, proper syringe shield and containment device utilization, proper storage and radiation stream disposal.

· Properly conducts all required quality control testing for determination of radiation detection device accuracy, dependability, and safety, as well as Nuclear Medicine gamma camera and/or various SPECT/CT components. Displays caution and proper shielding during computed tomography radiographic exposures for fusion and/or attenuation correction imaging. Accurately records documentation for quality assurance program and displays thorough knowledge of record finding and its analysis. Accurately monitors the Nuclear Medicine suite for radioactive contamination and subsequently documents results daily. Communicates and notifies Radiation Safety Officer of safety or regulatory concerns in a timely manner. Participates in process improvement and feedback for quality assurance program. Maintains specific records for various agency audits, hospital policy requirements, and personal credentialing.

· Functions with a high level of autonomy, producing high quality Nuclear Medicine examination results at a level of competence which does not require continual technical supervision by supervisory staff or physician. Accepts responsibility for training students as well as new employees, including; lecturing, technical supervision, results evaluation, and progress mentoring.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

· Bachelor's

· 3 Related Experience

· Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT)

· American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

· Nuclear Medicine Technology (ARRT-N)

· Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)

· Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS)
