Certified Medical Asst, Residential Crisis - Towson, MD

Principal Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Orientation toward customer relations- Orients new clients, staff, visitors, and volunteers to the program. Understands the basic functions of other programs offered by Sheppard Pratt. Displays professional interpersonal skills when dealing with clients and individuals involved in their care and treatment.

2. Monitor and assist medications with clients-Monitor and train the clients on these procedures.

3. Medication Changes-Ensuring that all medication changes are communicated to appropriate pharmacy, RN and/or programmatic provider.

4. Coordinating Medication Issues- Following up on medication issues with doctor’s offices, partial hospitalization programs, outpatient psychiatrists, primary care physicians and any other involved specialists.

5. Communication with Providers- Maintaining an ongoing relationship with appropriate providers, such as caregivers, family members, etc. Notifying any provider of medical, psychiatric issues related to clients, care, medication, etc.

The pay range for this position is $18 hourly minimum to $22.28 hourly maximum and is determined on a number of factors, including but not limited to, years and level of related experience.

What we need from you.

Work requires the ability to read, write, and speak English well enough to maintain documentation and other record keeping tasks and working knowledge of specific patient population served, e.g., adults in psychiatric crisis. Must have a current, valid certification as medical assistant. Some experience in a directly related work environment setting is preferred but may not be a must have. Work requires a one-to-three-month orientation period to obtain sufficient familiarity with medication policies, procedures, and specific patient population. Must have interpersonal skills sufficient to establish therapeutic relationships with mentally ill residents and to communicate and work effectively with residents in accordance with rehabilitation plans. Must possess a valid, state issued driver’s license and a current driving record with 3 or fewer points on it at time of appointment. Must meet company requirements to operate a company vehicle. Must have access to your own vehicle and may be required to use own vehicle for work as needed.
