Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is looking to add a qualified Certified Medical Assistant in Somerville, NJ. The Certified Medical Assistant will perform clinical tasks such as EKGs, hearing and vision screens, urinalysis, injections, vaccinations, and medication administration.

Qualifications:

Required:

Completion of a formal Certified Medical Assistance program At least six months experience

Preferred:

Experience with or interest in LGBTQ+ health highly preferred

Certifications and Licenses Required:

CMA CertificationBLS Certification from AHA

Scheduling Requirements:

Day Shift, 40 hours/weekFull-Time Schedule

Essential Functions:

Works as a member of the healthcare team to promote continuity of patient care with the providersAssures that medical assistance is promptly and readily available when needed by the healthcare providersAdministers medication, support and educate patients with injection training, handles prior authorizations, and assists providers as neededPrepares patients for provider examination and informs patients of the process and what to expectCompiles and records pertinent patient data for office visits and follow up patient care in EMRUses EMR for office communicationMaintains competency in medical assistant skills through continuing educationKeeps personal learning records and competency documents up to dateAssures organization and cleanliness of and maintains stock items in the office, lab, the examination rooms and procedure roomsDiscreet handling of confidential information A flexible, rotating schedule to include some evening hours as dictated by patient volume, physician availability and practice expansionTrain new staff and create a productive medical practice teamTreats all patients with respect, dignity, compassion and concern
