Learn About a Day in the Life of a Medical Assistant: Responsibilities Perform clerical and clinical duties under the direction of a physician and or registered nurse Clerical duties may include scheduling appointments, obtaining prior authorizations, and maintaining medical records Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, and administering medications as directed by a physician Qualifications Job Requirements: Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA or equivalent); Current or must be attained within three (3) months of hire Current BLS certification Preferred Job Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent Previous similar clinic experience Previous experience with EMR systems One year experience in physician’s practice
