Job DescriptionApply advanced environmental science expertise, with specialized knowledge in chemistry, industrial hygiene, and biological sciences.Lead project teams to address client Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) concerns and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.Develop and write technical proposals and detailed scopes of work for EH&S projects.Prepare and manage project budgets and resource requirements.Travel by air, sea, or land on short notice to reach project sites as needed.Obtain and maintain multi-state licenses and national certifications for mold, lead, and asbestos disciplines.Collaborate with management on staffing needs and provide leadership across multiple concurrent projects.Build and maintain strong client relationships, contributing to business development and client retention.Conduct quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) reviews of project reports as part of a peer review team.Prepare technical studies and reports in accordance with standard formats and procedures.Investigate, assess, and document environmental, health, and safety conditions; conduct research and planning to support comprehensive reporting.Remain flexible and available to work extended hours during emergency response events or urgent client needs.Monitor and review time and expenses associated with managed projects.Supervisory Responsibility
Oversee environmental consulting staff assigned to projects, including employees, vendors, and contractors.Execute supervisory duties in line with company policies and legal requirements.Responsibilities include training, task assignment, performance oversight, conflict resolution, and collaboration with internal teams.QualificationsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Science, Geology, or EngineeringValid Driver’s LicenseEligible for a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential)40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification and 8-Hour Annual RefresherMinimum of 10 years of relevant EH&S or environmental consulting experienceExceptional written and verbal communication skillsRecognized subject matter expertise across multiple scientific disciplinesProven project management capabilities, including strong time managementResults-oriented leadership with a focus on team performance and outcomesSound business judgment and decision-making skillsCollaborative and team-oriented mindsetStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesDemonstrated integrity and commitment to ethical practiceExcellent client relationship management and interpersonal skillsFinancial acumen with the ability to manage projects within budgetWork Environment
Office or field environment will be where work is performed.Wet or humid conditions may be encountered during fieldwork with high ambient temperatures in the summer or cold ambient temperatures in the winter.Able to work in elevated areas with fall protection equipment.Noisy environments may be encountered with the need for hearing protection.High levels of personal protective equipment may be required at various times, depending upon the client’s location and hazards present. A full yearly physical examination will be performed by an occupational physician to ensure that personal protective equipment, where necessary, can be worn and the employee is medically fit for the required fieldwork.Physical and Mental Job Qualifications
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Sitting is limited to lunch, breaks, and driving.A number of duties are performed on feet.Walking for long periods on many different terrains that could range from flat to hilly or rough and slippery.Able to carry equipment as much as 40 lbs. unassisted.Must be able to use hands and fingers to pick up objects, turn on regulators, insert earplugs, and use hand tools.Push or pull items.Able to reach above head.Able to bend at the knees.Able to climb ladders to reach high areas or down into tanks or excavations.Able to wear a self-contained breathing apparatus and perform required job duties at the same time.Able to squat, kneel or crouch in confined spaces when necessary.Vision must be correctable to at least 20:40 with the ability to distinguish colors with good depth perception and peripheral vision.This is a full-time, salaried position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, flexible hours are required to complete job tasks in some circumstances. This position can require rapid response due to chemical or weather-related emergencies outside of normal business hours; travel out of town as needed and weekend work may be involved where necessary.
Travel
Travel is primarily local, but can also be regional or national depending on the project or need. Rapid response to client emergencies and overnight travel is sometimes required.
