Job Description:
Assist surgeon in performing surgical procedures. Functions as surgeon’s chief assistant in the operating room. Supervised by the department director and nurse manager. Assignments received from the charge nurse and/or RN in charge of the room
Job Responsibility:
Scrubbing into casesAssist primary scrub with set-up and opening of sterile suppliesMake sure instruments and supplies are available for the scheduled caseSetting up cases ensuring that all instruments are thoroughly sterilizedAssist circulating RN with patient positioningAssists RN with circulating duties as needed to carry out the appropriate interventions.First assists in cardiothoracic procedures and other surgical procedures performs surgical procedure independently as directed and supervised by physician, including but not limited to saphenous vein harvesting (open and endoscopic); after successfully completing an approved course on saphenous vein harvestingRequirements:
Completion of Surgical First Assistant Program and successful completion of certification.Driver's LicenseCertified First Assistant must graduate from a Surgical Technologist program or have comparable military training and completion of Surgical First Assistant Program and successful completion of certification. Maintains National Surgical Assistant Association Certification and national surgical technologist certification.Prefer 6 to 12 months’ experienceBenefits:
