Job Title

Ceramic/Materials R&D Engineer II

As an R&D Engineer II, you will provide engineering support and technical guidance to material, product, and process development programs. In this role, you will focus on synthesis, processing, and evaluation of non-oxide ceramics.

Roles & Responsibilities:

With limited direction, conducts engineering experiments on new materials, products, processes and/or procedures.Participate significantly in projects to optimize and improve existing materials, products, processes and/or procedures.Contribute to project plan development, execution and reporting activities to support CoorsTek project management activities.Devise basic research methods and documents results and procedures.Operate process and test equipment with an understanding of functionality based on underlying engineering principles.Exercise responsibility for specific pieces of processing and/or analytical equipment.Work collaboratively with the Operations and Commercial sectors of the company.Participate in the company’s safety culture and continuous improvement efforts.

Job Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, or related Physical Science or Engineering, and at least three years relevant experience;Or: Masters degree in Materials Science, or related Physical Science or Engineering

Experience & Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Experience processing ceramic materials including formulation, batching, forming, and densification.Experience with analytical techniques related to mechanical or electrical properties of ceramic materials.Experience with non-oxide ceramics preferred.Experience operating pressure-assisted furnaces and inert-environment furnaces preferred.Sound basic knowledge of mathematics, statistics, engineering science and ceramic processing.Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.Organized, detail-oriented person necessary.Must be able to work with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds.

Target Hiring Range

Annual Salary: USD 90,196.00 - USD 119,059.00
