ANCC Magnet designated UPMC Passavant is currently hiring a Full-Time Central Sterile Processing Technician to support the Sterilization Department at the Cranberry location. Title and salary will be determined based upon education and experience.

Shift Details:

9a – 5:30p No weekends or holidays 

Responsibilities:

Prepares and assembles surgical trays and equipment. Adheres to decontamination, sterile processing, infection control, and safety policies. Troubleshoots decontamination/sterilization equipment. Performs related duties as assigned or required in emergencies. Demonstrates knowledge of performance improvement tools and techniques. Continuously improves care quality and integrates best practices. Shares improvements with other units. Communicates effectively with care providers and recommends practice changes. Ensures comprehensive documentation for caregiver communication. Analyzes clinical, social, safety, psychological, and spiritual issues critically. Incorporates goals to improve patient safety, quality, and satisfaction. Builds compassionate patient relationships. Shares new knowledge through presentations, posters, and publications. Builds productive relationships through mentoring and positive communication. Coaches on cultural diversity and addresses workplace issues. Maintains accountability for safe work hours, time management, and healthy lifestyles. Mentors and educates peers, positively impacting patients and the healthcare team. Shares expertise within and beyond the clinical unit. Pursues professional development to improve practice and patient care. Recommends and participates in clinical care improvements and change initiatives. Builds healthy relationships among colleagues and disciplines. Sets priorities effectively. Monitors and ensures proper function of sterilizers. Develops skills through educational programs. Communicates using good interpersonal skills. Assesses supplies for surgical procedures and sets up case carts. Maintains and reassembles instrument trays and patient care equipment. Practices cost containment in work organization. Demonstrates commitment to core values by understanding and meeting the needs of patients, families, physicians, and co-workers. Participates in performance improvement activities. Works as a team member and is accountable for responsibilities. Cleans and decontaminates reusable equipment, instruments, and supplies.
