Central Sterile Processing Assistant
**Employment Type:** Full time **Shift:** Day Shift **Description:** **Accountability Objectives:** Functions as a team member under the supervision of Sterile Processing Leadership. Responsible for supporting the decontamination and assembly process of instrumentation. **II** **Position Qualifications:** **Minimum Education, Licensure / Certification and Experience Required.** **A.** **Education** High School Diploma or GED equivalent **B.** **Licensure / Certification** N/A **C** **Special Skill / Aptitudes** + Excellent customer service orientation skills necessary in order to deal effectively with various levels of hospital personnel. + Understanding of infection control workflow + Good hand, arm and vision dexterity to handle sensitive instruments and equipment; ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 30 lbs. + Ability to operate department equipment. **D.** **Experience** + Not Applicable **III** **Duties / Responsibilities:** + Decontamination: + Receives instruments into decontamination area + Scans instruments sets + Removes genesis pans, filters, etc + Rinse genesis pans as necessary + Loads washers and cart washer + Loads Case Carts and instrument pans into cart washer + Load completed racks into instrument washer + Restock work stations + Brushes, Soap, towels, etc + Assembly: + Unloads washer and cart washer + Place instruments and rigid containers on appropriate racks + Place biohazard bins in appropriate area + Stores sterile instruments in appropriate locations + Distributes sterile instruments/equipment to ancillary departments + Restock workstations + Towels, indicators, tip protectors, etc **IV** **Dept/Unit Specific:** Not Applicable **V** **Working Conditions:** + May involve exposure to communicable disease, hazardous gases/chemicals and resultant vapors from use; injury from sharp objects; no known allergies to disinfectants, detergents, soaps and cleaners. + Frequently required to stand, stoop, walk, sit and use stretching motions. **Our Commitment** Rooted in our Mission and Core Values, we honor the dignity of every person and recognize the unique perspectives, experiences, and talents each colleague brings.
