Description

The primary objective of the Environmental Specialist is to ensure the plant adheres to environmental compliance standards. This position reports to the maintenance supervisor with a dotted line to the environmental manager.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Ability to locate all dust collectors by chartAbility to locate all dust collector bags and cages by chartBags and cages installationBe able to attend and pass Smoke school certification (Method 9)Be aware of and follow MSHA regulationsOther duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or GEDStrong personal commitment to safetyDependable, self-motivated and possess a positive attitude in working with others as a teamMust be able to pass pre-employment drug screen, physical & background check

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must be able to learn to drive and operate bobcat using levers and pedals to operate for clean-upMust be able to use shovel, broom, jackhammer, and wheelbarrowMust be able to lift and push 40-50 lbs. of weight (wheelbarrow loaded and unloaded)Must be able to use 20-lb. sledgehammerMust be able to climb ladders of 50' in height and stairways of 30' in heightMust be able to read and understand operating manuals for mobile equipment operatedMust maintain truck with oil, fuel, etc.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Works in all weather conditions including heat, cold, ice, rain and in high humidity and is required to work in all plant environments. Incumbent will be exposed to vibrating equipment and mechanical and electrical hazards and heights. . May have exposure to dust, cement, clay, gypsum, sand, diesel exhaust, lubricants, solvents, various fuels, etc. (See MSDS’s)
